A brief guide on how to layout your Fintech CV.

Name, Job Title/Job Function

Email, Phone, Capital City, LinkedIn 

Professional Summary

5 to 8 bullet points highlighting your offering as a Fintech Professional including restating your job title, domain expertise (i.e. Merchant Acquiring) and total years’ experience you have in Fintech/Payments.

Fintech Industry Skills and/or Products

Industry and technical terms showcasing your exposure Fintech e.g., Payments gateways, EMV, Merchant Acquiring (should be backup with example in Professional experience). You can also include your company’s products if well known.

Technical Exposure and/or Customers & Delivered Solutions

Software, systems & tech e.g., switches, financial messaging formats (ISO 20022), databases, card systems, terminals logs, CRMs etc. If you worked for a vendor, you could list some of the customers you delivered solutions for (if public knowledge).

Professional Experience

As complete an account as you can manage of your Fintech career.

·       A summary of the employer (brief)

·       A summary of the role (brief)

·       Clear dates and job titles

·       Roles with the same employer listed together so reader can see tenure and promotions.

·       Bullet points written using the XYZ formula - Personal achievement X, achieved by doing Y, resulting in Z for the team, company, client or project.

AFTER “Professional Experience”

Education & Training

A (brief) summary of your highest level of tertiary education plus one relevant professional qualification (i.e., MBA or relevant finance course)

Tips

·       No photo

·       No graphic design

·       No tables/graphs

·       No personal wants or objectives

·       Clear job title/function “Chief Product Officer” or “Business Development Manager”

·       Tone of voice

  • Write as if you are speaking to a friend.

  • Write as if you’re explaining something to a teenager.

  • Write in first person > I led a team, I delivered this project, I met sales quota. 

·       Black and white is fine. If you want to use colour, just use one. (LinkedIn blue would be best)

·       Written in MS Word > exported to PDF.
